Overview / Responsibilities

Wood nuclear is recruiting for an NDT Apprentice to undergo a structured training and mentoring programme inclusive of a British Institute of NDT sponsored formal apprenticeship. The role will be based at Birchwood Park, Warrington.

 

Wood Inspection Validation Centre is a specialist NDT qualification body and is currently expanding capability at all levels in support of ongoing and future nuclear industry contracts.

 

An existing understanding of engineering or scientific principles is pre-requisite, supported by a qualification in an appropriate subject area at Higher National level. The apprenticeship will include the training necessary to obtain PCN level 2 certification in ultrasonic testing and one other method.

 

Responsibilities

  • To participate fully in all activities with an objective of achieving the necessary development required within the role and by the supporting apprenticeship programme.
  • Able to review, interpret and understand basic engineering information including design drawings and technical specifications.
  • To support colleagues in delivering tasks that are deemed to be within the individual’s capability as a result of training already undertaken or ongoing

Skills / Qualifications

  • HNC in an Engineering or Science based subject; alternative experience and training of equivalent value would be considered, alongside a qualification at National level.
  • GCSE qualifications at Grade C or above in Mathematics, English and a Science subject
  • Energy, enthusiasm and good communication skills
  • Capable, with sufficient and appropriate training, of preparing clear and concise written technical reports
