  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood has unique world-class engineering capability in the fields of Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) and we are currently seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our Kuala Lumpur office.  This position will be ideal if you:

    • want to develop your engineering skills and practical design experience in pulsation simulation, FEA, dynamic analysis, stress analysis, and other capabilities

    We demonstrate technical excellence in resolving the causes and effects of vibration in static equipment, structures and machinery providing engineering solutions and services improving the integrity and performance of our clients’ facilities.   This is a consulting role combining elements of business development and key account management and associated office based analysis.

     

    At this time this role is open to Malaysian nationals or those with valid work rights or Visa in place for Malaysia.

     

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    • Perform design studies (analysis) for new or modified machinery packages and associated piping systems, reciprocating compressors and pumping systems
    • Perform design studies for platform dynamics, foundation design, skid design, flow induced studies, centrifugal compressors surge control and other design requirements
    • Assist with investigations and provide high quality technical input for relevant plant failures and trouble-shooting projects
    • Willing to establish strong relationships with clients to resolve their technical vibration and dynamics problems and foster ongoing relationships to ensure future work
    • Support project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and project control
    • A keen eye for detail and the ability to quickly interpret key client evidence
    • Prepare written reports of investigation findings and recommend methods for rectification

    Skills / Qualifications

    ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters or above)
    • Strong interest in vibration, performance, reliability, and machinery design
    • Detail focused, with a strong commitment to technical development
    • Be able to communicate complex engineering concepts
    • Strong competency in English literacy and report writing skills is critical
    • Committed to a culture of Safety in the workplace
    • Desirable experience includes understanding:
      • the concepts of dynamic stress and fatigue analysis, 
      • acoustic and flow induced studies, 
      • FEA, pipe stress analysis,
      • pulsation analysis / control, structural dynamics / trouble-shooting
    • Demonstrated experience with commercial software such as ANSYS, CAESAR II, AutoCad, Solidworks, and able to quickly learn modelling on the company’s proprietary modelling software
    • Ability to work within project budget, schedule and resource constraints
